Why Hydration Matters for Your Pet
Proper hydration is essential for your pet's health. Water supports every body function – from digestion and nutrient absorption to temperature regulation and waste removal. Chronic dehydration, even at mild levels, can contribute to serious health issues including kidney disease, urinary tract problems, and reduced cognitive function.
Our pet hydration calculator provides personalized water intake recommendations based on your pet's specific needs, taking into account their weight, activity level, and diet type.
Did you know?
A cat's body is about 60–70% water. Even mild dehydration (just 5%) can cause lethargy, dry gums, and reduced kidney function. Cats evolved as desert animals and often don't drink enough on their own.

How We Calculate Water Needs
The calculation uses veterinary guidelines for daily water intake:
- Dogs: 50-60 ml per kg of body weight
- Cats: 40-50 ml per kg of body weight
These base amounts are then adjusted for activity level and diet type.
Tips for Keeping Your Pet Hydrated
🚰 Use Water Fountains
Many pets prefer moving water. Fountains also keep water fresher and more oxygenated.
📍 Multiple Water Stations
Place water bowls in different locations so your pet always has easy access.
🥫 Consider Wet Food
Wet food is 70-80% moisture, providing significant hydration with every meal.
🧊 Fresh & Clean
Change water daily and clean bowls regularly. Pets may avoid stale or dirty water.
